Darryl B

Darryl (he/him) began studying saxophone with Seattle legends Ulysses “Jabo” Ward and Joe Brazil. Through Joe, Darryl began performing with touring musicians who were performing in Seattle. He went on to study at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, San Francisco State University, and Berklee College of Music before moving to Europe. Darryl lived in Copenhagen for 10 years, teaching saxophone students and jazz ensembles at Det Alternative Rytmiske Konservatorium. Darryl performed throughout Europe during this time, eventually returning to the Seattle area. He teaches saxophone and piano at Meter, helping students to find joy and confidence through musical practice.

Nic D

Nic (he/him) is a classically trained pianist, saxophonist, and vocalist with a BBA in Music Business from Belmont University. A pianist since kindergarten and a saxophonist since the 5th grade, Nic marched thoughout high school and served as drum major his senior year - an experience that cemented his understanding of musical leadership. He applies this background to his piano and woodwind teaching, helping students develop their tone, technique, and reading skills. 

Outside of teaching, Nic works as a freelance producer in genres including Indie, Pop, and House. He also works as a technician with the Seattle Piano Company, bringing a unique wealth of technical knowledge about the piano to his lessons. 

Nic's lessons at Meter are designed for students who want to bridge the gap between traditional technique and the music they love.

Wyatt P

Wyatt (he/him) grew up in Seattle and was a part of the award-winning Roosevelt Jazz Band program in the late 00's. Building on the success of his high school program, he went on to the New England Conservatory where he received his Bachelors and Masters in Music. During his time in Boston, Wyatt toured and recorded with a variety of bands all over the Northeast. 

At NEC, Wyatt studied under world-renowned musicians such as Jerry Bergonzi, Miguel Zenon, and Fred Hersch. He also participated in the Music-In-Education program, furthering his knowledge of music pedagogy. 

Wyatt has 10+ years of experience teaching music to students of all ages. He specializes in teaching classical, jazz, rock, and pop. He also teaches the fundamentals of music theory, composition, and improvisation. Wyatt's goal in teaching is to inspire students to explore the rich world of music and achieve success in their musical pursuits. Wyatt teaches saxophone, clarinet, and piano at Meter.
